A portrait bust is a shoulder-up carving of a person's head and chest, the classical way to honor an individual in stone. We carve custom busts from photographs or from a physical model or scan, so a commission does not require the subject to sit for a sculptor.
Most portrait busts are carved in white or lightly veined marble, the material that renders facial features, expression and hair in the finest detail and polishes to a soft sheen. We produce historical and classical-style busts, corporate and institutional portraits, family and memorial commissions, and decorative reproduction pieces in the style of classical sculpture. Every likeness is reviewed at clay-model and rough-carving stages so the finished face matches the reference.
Busts can be ordered alone or with a matching carved marble or granite pedestal, and each piece is foam-packed and crated for export.
